Ok, maybe he isn't threatening to come to the NHL, but I thought I should update you fine folk on his current status.
@dchesnokov Dmitry Chesnokov #KHL CSKA demoted Nikita Filatov to the MHL (junior team). What a change of events for him. #Sens
What's up with this guy? I was saying that Ottawa didn't give him a fair shot over guys like Butler, but it seems everywhere he plays he gets demoted.
I bet he rather be in the AHL than the MHL at the moment.
Crazy. What prospects does this guy have outside of playing hockey? You think he would just put his head down and play, even if its purely for the cash by this point. He's going to end up farming beets if he keeps it up.

I would have to think the AHL would be considerably more plush...oh well...you get what you ask for sometimes in life.
Heard this on the radio today. He just wants money. He went from 65k in the AHL to 800k in the KHL.
Not sure what happened after that. Maybe he's just dumb?
Another wasted Russian talent all because of big head syndrome.

Does he still get that in the KHL Tier 2 league?
lol. Oh man. What is wrong with this guy???

I bet this was part of the reason there was a hold up with a contract in the KHL. I'm sure he wanted some kind of guaranteed money, and the team was hesitant to do that. For good reason it would seem.
That's just speculation on my part, but it has become painfully clear, this guy is only about the money.
Bet he wishes he stayed over in NA. He likely would have seen a lot of time in Ottawa by now.

All the coaches can't be wrong about the Guy.

Why does it have to be linked to the fact that he is Russian?
Here is a list of some good old canadian boys that were high drafts yet had subpar carreers (if we can even call it a career for some of them).
Alexandre D'aigle (1st overall)
Angelo Esposito (1st overall hopeful who fell to the 20th or 2oth position and has yet to establish himself)
Greg Joly (First overall - 1974)
Jason Bonsignore (4th overall - 1994)
Scott Scisson (6th overall - 1990)
Doug Wickenheiser (1st overall - 1980) -
Steve Kelly (6th overall - 1995) - 43 games, 21 points
All these players did not play to expectations. I know that both D'aigle and Esposito probably suffered from Big Head Syndrome but the reality is that some players just can't elevate their talent to NHL level.
Filatov may have a swelled head but it has nothing to do with the fact that he is Russian. I heard that there were lots of pressure from his mother. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't, I don't know as I don't know the guy. From the outside looking in, it seems like he has a sense of entitlement, (I feel the same way about Esposito).

I wasn't making a direct link that it's because he's Russian, I'm just stating that as a fact he is another Russian talent wasted because of " big head " syndrome.
See Ottawa's history of wasted Russian talents who thought they were deserving of a roster spot before they even earned one.
please don't make me type out the long list again.
Maybe...ala Alexandre Daigle......he just doesn't want to play hockey anymore.
It happens.
Perhaps he has been pushed along by other people's will/motivations........not his own.
Skills aside......perhaps he just doesn't want what we think he wants.
Or he just sucks.
some guys just might hit the ceiling a little early is all
