Man we really need Cowen back. At least Gonchar can eat up some minutes. I'll be at the game, time for some revenge.

Gonchar's return should help, and with Lundin ready to come back in the next game or two, hopefully the back end stabilizes a bit. Now they just need consistency on the goal scoring, and we'll be golden!

Re: Senators - Hurricannes GDT
I think with Gonchar back Karlsson's ice time can start to drop a bit. He may not be the fastest guy, but he keeps calm when he's got the puck on his stick and usually makes a solid first pass. With him gone, there weren't may options outside of Karlsson when Ottawa needed to put more emphasis on the breakout. The drawback is that he's a guy that was never terribly good defensively, and isn't a bottle of fine wine. Maybe Wireriercocheche will develop enough over the course of the year that they won't need Gonchar, but right now, the team is better with him in the line up. That's my head speaking. My heart says Gonchar is over the hill and we should trade him to Pittsburgh.

I think the biggest area Gonchar will help with as well is the power play. They were definitely missing that other good shot from the point.

I agree that Gonchar is a steadying influence and a time eater. I also agree that he isn't a gem defensively, but I remember hearing that when he played for Washington forever ago! He and Phillips are the steady, slow footed but smart, defensive guys. Gonchar still has an offensive flair in him, but I find that now a days he passes rather than shoots. I would prefer to see him on his natural side of the ice scoring PP goals in the second PP unit. He was the PP quarterback for both Washington and Pitts ages ago. On a related defensive note, it will be very interseting to see when PM inserts Lundin into the line up, and who will sit as a result. I expect to see Borocop back in Bingo, a shame really, and Weircoch sitting in favour of the older and more experienced Benoit. Lovemysens....sorry man, didnt mean to mess with that lady named Karma!
