Just thinking about Saturday's game against the Leafs got me thinking: this very well could be our first "must win" game this year.
We have a very craptastic record against N/E opponents so far this year, and the season is too short to throw away points against teams in your division.
These 2 pts tomorrow night are not only important to gain some space (head's up - in case you have ignored the standings, the Leafs only sit a point behind us) but these divisional games are basically 4 pt games already in the season. Getting 2 pts tomorrow means they don't get those 2 pts, which is almost more important in the long run.
I'm certainly not hovering over the panic button or anything yet, but a loss on Saturday night would not be good.
Here's hoping for a solid showing, and walking away with a W.
The Habs need to win because they're a better team than the Leafs and they have lost the last 2 games.
Don't know that it's a must win, but considering it's another home game it is damn close.

lol every game is a must win. Like it not your habs are a bubble team just like the Leafs.
If the Habs can't beat a beat up Leafs team, what will you say then? Toronto is a better team than the Record shows, they should be 8-3 are even 9-3(had they held on to the lead vs the rangers). But that's hockey, I know my Leafs are going to win Saturday night though.

That's just it, KIR......and these divisional games make it even more important to win.
It's time to start seperating the men from the boys, so to speak, and given the short season we can't keep on dropping divisional games and expect to make the playoffs.
We need these two points just as much as we need to keep these two points away from other divisional teams. As it is right now, four teams from the N/E are in the East's top 8. That will change, and to stay in the top 8 we will need to win these divisional games for sure.
Everyone seems concerned about the inter division games. Huge games, 4 pt games etc.
They're all 4 pt games. It's one big 15 team "division", if you will.
The only time "division" matters is winning the division. If we are in a position to beat Boston for Division Title, then everything is cool I'm I'm not worried about much.
As far as playing teams like Toronto and Buffalo....no different than playing Carolina or Tampa Bay.

Habs win 4-2
Gionta, Chuckie, Bourque and PK
I'm gonna predict (hope) 3-1 Leafs
Kessel/JVR/Frattin for the Buds
Galcheniuk(sp?) for the Habs
Good luck 2nite Boyz!!
I'm in with a 4-0 Habs Score....
Price has Stellar game.

Wow.....you are predicting a SHUTOUT for Price tonight habling??
I could see a shutout too but think Leafs may pop 1 or 2.
That I am!
Usually what a 4-0 score means...
Price notches his 1st of the season.
Excellent point, never thought of it that way.
I just have very, very strong doubts that 4 N/E teams make the playoffs, which to me, makes these divisional games pretty pivital.
