Curtis McElhinney, after having his finest moment recently, beating the Flames in OT, then went in the toilet after the Duck's #1 goalie went down. He has now been swapped to Tampax Bay for Dan Ellis.
McHardtospell was supposed to be the next shining light when he came up from the minors with Calgary, but never got the confidence of his team or the coaching staff. There were those who said he never got a fair chance here but his latest performance shows the guy just doesn't have it for the big leagues.
Perhaps Stevie Y will bury him in the minors as I can't see them having any more faith in him than his last 2 employers.
He started out strong this year and even recorded two shutouts, but as soon as Hiller went down he couldn't handle being the number 1 guy.
It's obvious that he has the skills, but just isn't mentally tough enough to hack it in any other role then spot filler.
He'll probably ride the pine behind Roloson this year and then I think his contract is done... I can see him playing and doing well in some European Elite League.
I think you're right BIF, his game is better suited to the less pressure Euros.
As amazing as Roloson's longevity is, he will have to play a ton down the strectch, and they are one tweaked groin from having to depend on McBackup. Stevie better have a backup Backup plan.
feel kinda bad for the kid he is a good guy i think and he looked like maybe he had his chance to prove he can play in Anaheim . Now probably your right Beer he will be an after thought in Tampa .
